Putzing around

Was putzing around the other day with some parts and pieces that I had laying around my table. Put together this card for a friend. Those argyle note cards from A Muse Artstamps are so fun to use as a base card. I haven't used one in a long time so just took it out and made this card for my friend. Have some super special things coming up so stay tuned...

Color combos

I have been trying to test out different color combinations. My friend, Heidi, helped me with this one. We looked at the Copic marker chart to figure out what color would compliment BG72 Ice Ocean. I think that this plum and the blue raspberry tin plate A Muse cardstock did a good job. I also wanted to use the baby from the baby in nest stamp and put him in the plaid bassinet. Even used my stamp a ma jig for the first time. Had this tool for the longest time and never needed to use it but it came in really handy for me to get that baby in that bassinet. Tracy's sketch challenge for this week gave the the layout. Thanks, Tracy for a great sketch! Pop on over to her blog and give it a try!

No Cheating!

My friend, Jane seems to think she may have cheated on Glenda's challenge. This week we were not supposed to use patterned paper. Jane used a card she made previously for this challenge but she stamped some patterned paper for her background. Is this cheating? What do you think? Not sure what I think but I love the card she posted for the challenge. It is really creative and really shows off Jane's stamping abilities. She is amazing!!! Thank you, Glenda for the great challenge. It was harder for me than I thought it would be.

OK, Jane

See, Jane? I did it! Told you I would get it done before the deadline. You see, my friend Jane and I had a challenge of our own last week. Do Glenda's challenge and use the "life is uncertain" stamp. Well I did Glenda's challenge earlier in the week but forgot to use the life sentiment. Duh! So yesterday I sat down and did the 20 minute challenge using one of the stamps from A Muse's Newly Hatched release. That panda is the cutest and this card will be in one of my friends mailbox for their upcoming birthday. Make sure you get your list together and head out to your LSS for the new stamps. You won't regret it!!!

Tricycle

Remember when you used to "ride" your tricycle with your foot on the back and your hands on the handlebars and skip along with the other foot on the ground? Maybe your little brother was sitting on the seat and you were giving him a ride. Was trying to get that feel with this card. The stamps in this release are some of my favorites. Hope you have enjoyed the last few days of our amuse-bouche cards. Don't forget to peek at the other instructor blogs for more ideas.

amuse-bouche 2

Here we go again! More brand spankin' new A Muse stamps for you to ogle. I used three new stamps on this card, feet, hands and babies are. Never used the sentiment as the main focus of a card before but wanted to give it a try after seeing how cute the feet and hands were as my background stamps. Then I used my heart MS border punch and had a baby card that was A Muse simple. Make sure you check out the other instructor blogs for more sightings of the new stamps.

amuse-bouche

I have to admit that I had a different card ready for my first amuse-bouche but when my kitty got me up this morning at 4:30, this card popped into my head. I needed to figure out a couple things, how am I going to get milk on the baby's mouth and where can I use my drippy goo punch to show milk dripping down? Well, I just started working and this is what came out... I found an old piece of patterned paper that had a bottle on it, cut it out, stamped my baby, punched out the dripping milk with my drippy goo, added the drop twinkle stickers and it was done. Milk splashing and dripping all over the place!!! Don't think a card ever came together as smoothly as this one did for me. I mean EVER! It is simple, it is A Muse. Check out the blogs of the other members of the A Muse creative team for some more peeks at the new release.

Two in one

I know what you are thinking, didn't I just see this image on one of Dawn's other cards? Yup! You did! I was playing with my Copic markers and decided to make more than one of these "watercolor" look images. The pink of the image is actually closer to the pink on my card. For some reason the image looks purple on this photo. So now, the two for one, well I managed two challenges in this one card. Glenda's challenge is for a card that takes 20 minutes or less and so I easily did that with Tracy's sketch challenge for this week. Yay! Make sure you check out their blogs to see all the cards made for their challenges.

Back to business

Easter is over and now it is time to start making some fun cards. Had another meeting with our local stamp club. There are a lot of fun ladies in the club, Hi ladies!, and we always have a good time making cards and talking technique and eating a homemade dessert. At each meeting we have a sketch challenge. This is my card for our sketch this week. Please check out Heidi's blog for more inspiration and lots of great cards. Her card today is using the sketch for next months sketch challenge.

Forgot!

Look what I forgot to post yesterday! Did Glenda's challenge and forgot to post it! Her challenge this week was to use scraps on everything except the card base. I thought it would be easy and made several cards but could never quite get one I liked. It was all about the ribbon! Didn't have a piece of ribbon from another project that worked with the card I was making. So I did this card backwards. Started with the ribbon! Didn't cut one single piece of scrap for this card either. Just used what I had leftover from other cards. Might try this again because I really enjoy using up scraps.

Simple challenge

Challenging myself is always an adventure. This card is for the Think Simple challenge on the A Muse Lounge. Wanted to do something different so I tried a technique we learned at the Copic marker training in Seattle. We learned that you can color directly on the stamp with Copic markers! I know! You thought you couldn't, didn't you? You color on your stamp with your marker, then spray the paper with the colorless blender solution and then stamp. Easy peasy! It worked great. Now what to do with the stamped image on a simple card? Just used my Cuttlebug embossing borders set to make the yellow strip and voila, a simple card. Thank you, Jennie for a great challenge. It was harder than I thought it would be, but fun to do. Will try another simple card soon.

Flower Power

A group of my friends and I were recently talking about the use of flowers on a card. Some of us seemed to be stymied by just when to use them and when it is just too much. I thought maybe I could try and make a card using a flower. Easter is such a fun time to make cards and will be here soon so here is one more Easter card, using a flower that I hope is not too much.

Chick with a bunny hat

Who wouldn't love a chick with a bunny hat? Not my friend, Karen! She was nice enough to let me use her stamp to make this card, thanks, girlfriend. It is so much fun to have a new image to play with so I tried the pink and orange combo one more time. Have some more cards to show but you will have to wait a little while longer.

Extreme Paper Piecing

Just call me nuts! Glenda's challenge was to make a card without using my beloved Copic markers or any other coloring medium. What? NOT use the second best thing about stamping, coloring??? Well, you just know since I am new to paper piecing, I couldn't do just any paper piecing, had to do the kind that can drive you crazy! But frankly, when I got done with this card, it surprised me. Great challenge, Glenda, really got me thinking.

Sketches

Here we are, it is Thursday, the last day to do Tracy's sketch challenge. Why am I almost always so late with these? This one was a little bugger for me. Hopefully you have all visited the other gals that have completed this challenge. Their cards are really awesome! Going to make an effort to get the challenge posted today finished before next Thursday!!!
