Jenn's COOLest Card Series Week 4

The 4th and final week of the COOLest card series is featuring sparkle. I just love sparkly things. Any time I am in a store sparkly things catch my eye. Just ask my husband. For this week I wanted to make another shaker card. What doesn't sparkle like sequins and beads? Used some of the Distress Inks for the background and a We r Memory Keepers next level embossing folder to give the background some dimension. The quilted look is just what I wanted. Then I cut a frame from a Die-namics stitched rectangle frame set and added a couple snowflakes from Impression Obsessions. I almost forgot to mention the sequins mix. They are the Forget-Me-Not mix from Lucy's Cards. Yummy! The winter sentiment is from one of the Tim Holtz word sets. So perfect for this time of year. Thanks for the fun challenges, Jenn and Audrey. I had a great time playing along.

Jenn's COOLest Card Series Week 3

Week 3 of the COOLest Card Series is featuring Valentine colors on a snow themed card. I thought this challenge needed to be a shaker card. I'm obsessed with shaker cards these days. How did I make a snowman shaker? Good question. I took circle punches and punched out circle frames for each of my snowman levels. Had a bit of trouble figuring out how to make the shaker pockets so I just cut out several layers of circle frames and built them up to a level that would hold these cute red, pink and white beads. Then I used a branch die from Memory Box for the stick arms and cut out a custom felt hat for him. He looks pretty snazzy, don't you think? Of course I had to make a watercolor pink and red background using Distress Inks and stamped an old A Muse Artstamp sentiment to add the perfect touches. Shakey, shake, shake!

Jenn's COOLest Card Series Week 1

Those Crazy Birds! I just can't stop using them on my cards. I wanted to use one of them on this card but he didn't have a hat. Had to dig into my stash to come up with this fun hat stamp for Jenn's COOLest Card Series.  I found it in an old Papertray build-a-snowman set.

Week 1 challenge was to use stencils. Thought of my "new to me" Memory Box snowflake stencil. Took me a while to figure out just what to do with it but I ended up using Wendy Vecchi's Metallic silver embossing paste to create shiny silver snowflakes. I always think of winter as black, white and gray so didn't feel the need to do anything else with the background. I die cut the Winter Wonderland from a Tim Holtz set out of black foam and added it to my card for a little more dimension. Used Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Border with lots of MS snow glitter for the finishing touch. Enjoy!

Jenn's COOLest Card Series Week 2

It's always fun to participate in a challenge. My friend Jenn has created a month long challenge called COOLest Card Series. She just loves snowmen and snowflake images even though she doesn't actually like cold weather. I think that is cool! So I will play along and get my creative juices flowing again. Her challenge this week is to use water color on your project.

Been dying to use this snowman image from Paper Smooches for at least a year and this non-traditionally water colored card was perfect for him to make his appearance. I white embossed the brand new Hero Arts snowflake background stamp and water colored the background with my favorite Distress Ink colors. The sentiment stamp is one I designed myself from Stamp Shoppe Stamps. I created my snow hills using Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders and a lot of the MS snow glitter.

Lawnscaping Sketch Challenge

Okay, Jenn Shurkus, I did the challenge! Have no idea how to enter for prizes but am posting a photo of the card I made. Forgot that I had this Christmas owl set and decided to use that for my card. So much fun to pull out a stamp set and actually make a card these days. I use lots of die cuts now and have left my stamps behind.

Thanks for the challenge, Jenn. If you would like to see her card look here.

Summer Card Camp 2

 Pre-class Challenge 1

Wow! I am making a post! I enrolled for the Summer Card Camp and they had a couple pre-class challenges. I wanted to join in so here is my creation. This card is so simple. Just stamped the flower image and colored it with my distress markers. Die cut the Happy Day and added layers. Now all I have to do is decide who to send it to.

I needed to use 4 of the following colors:

It's Shark Week!

Guess what today is everyone? It is the start of Shark Week on the Discovery channel. A bunch of shark loving friends got together and decided to make sharky cards and post a little blog hop to celebrate. Thought a red card base would be appropriate for this one. I usually don't use red but there is someone in our group who loves red. It is always fun to play with a color or technique that is unfamiliar. Also used some washi tape and a new sentiment stamp created by Jill and sent to everyone in the blog hop group. Isn't it "jawsome"? Now hop on over to the other shark lovers and see what they created.

Grateful

A few weeks back I sent a bottle of cherry bounce to my friend, Cheiron, and was totally surprised when she sent me a thank you card. Just look at those sparkly, shiny cherries. She really outdid herself. I don't know how she got them to look so good but I know I just want to eat one. It is such a pleasure to get a card in the mail during these days of email and text messages. So many electronic devices to master and so little time. Thank you, Cheiron, for taking the time to create something so wonderful to send to me. I would love to challenge anyone reading my blog today to create a card for a friend and send it out. You will put a smile on his or her face.
